Australia Awards - Africa Scholarships

Currently, the Australia Awards–Africa activities are pause due to COVID-19 on international travel to Australia. The Australian High Commission will provide updated information on the program when this becomes available.

Direct Aid Program

The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a small grants program funded from Australia's aid budget. It is a flexible arrangement designed to assist local communities in developing countries on projects that reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development.

The DAP sits alongside Australia's longer-term country and multilateral development strategies and with its wide geographical reach plays an important role in supporting local community efforts towards poverty reduction across the globe.

The High Commission accepts project proposals from all of its countries of accreditation: Benin, Cameroon, Gabon, Gambia, Niger and Nigeria. 

All DAP applications must be submitted through our online grants management system SmartyGrants. The portal operates on a web-based platform and can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection.

Applications for the next round will open 2pm (WAT) on 1 September 2021 and close 2pm (WAT) 30 September 2021. Once open, you can apply using the links below:
